During the day I have molly sleep on her stomach because she sleeps better longer..but now I'm wondering..when can I put her on her stomach at night?? I think she'll do so much better at night (not that she's a bad sleeper..) if she can sleep like that.
So, all you mommies and grand mommies and aunts and anyone else who has an idea..when can I put Molly on her belly for night time sleeping??

All my kids were like that. I never really laid them to sleep on their tummies till they were able to move there head up, and side to side during their daily tummy time play usually around 4-5 months. tummy time during the day will help strengthen those muscles. I definitely would wait till shes got that mastered before letting her sleep that way during the night.
One thing I did do that my boys liked is tilted them half way almost on their side with wrapped towels along their body. the towels pressed along their tummies, and being on their side made them feel half way there and way more comfy then just on their back. just some food for the thought. hope it helps. love ya. I still need to see this bundle of joy.
According to the American Academy of Pediatrics you should NEVER let an infant sleep on her stomach due to the increased incidences of SIDS. Now I know, there have been generations of people raised as stomach sleepers, (me included) butI always thought...do I really want to take the chance with my babies?
What I did with my two little ones was allowed them to sleep on their stomachs when they rolled themselves over in their sleep to sleep on their stomachs. I guess I figured at that point they were going to sleep the way they wanted to.
Not until she is old enough to roll on her belly herself, around 5 or 6 months. The whole "back to sleep" thing is recommended by the AAP because it greatly reduced the number of SIDS deaths.
The biggest indicator I personally use (Dr. Approved, I cannot say, so go with your feeling on this) is 1) when doing tummy time, can they lift there head up EASILY? If she has the strength to lift her head and move it from side to side without much effort, then you're probably good to go because then she won't smuther herself. My two oldest did really good at this at a month to two months, but Brook stuggled with this until she was about 4 months. Just make sure she doesn't have a lot of anything soft in her bed at night to hinder this movement. 2) When they show more interest in their stomach than their back. Eventually she will roll over onto her stomach even when you put her on her back and there won't be anything you can do about it. But if she just won't handle her back and screams because she wants her stomach, humor her because she knows what is comfortable for her. 3) Go with your gut. If you get the gut renching feeling not to do it, then don't do it. But if you feel comfortable about it after contemplating/praying about it for a while, then go with it. Mother intuition is usually always right. Just remember the danger of SDS (Sudden Death Syndrom) is very real. That is why they say "back to sleep." If she uses a binki this danger is much less because it has been shown that binki's reduce SDS dramatically. And since neither of you smoke, your chances are even lower that she could get SDS. But my opinion was always if the Lord wants them home then there is nothing I can do to stop it, back or front. He has loned me the child, and if He wants the child home then I cannot will it no. That doesn't means be stupid and let her do what she wants, but it does mean that bad things happen even if we take all the right precautions. Also, there will come a time when Sanity will be more important. If she sleeps for an hour longer on her stomach than on her back and you are dead tired, hardly functioning, then say a prayer that she'll be okay and get some sleep. A tired mommy is a worthless mommy. The biggest thing is going with your gut. If you feel any hesitation, just wait another few weeks and see how you feel. She is still young and a few weeks changes everything. Good luck.
P.S. Molly is BEAUTIFUL!! :)
I would say once she starts to roll one way or the other you would be safe to do so. I think all babies sleep beeter on the tummy I know I do Ü.
i was told to put babies on their tummies to sleep and never on their backs. i put them on their sides.
I think that all the advice so far is pretty much spot on. I always put my kids to bed on their sides so that if they had issues it was less likely to stay in their mouths. Good Luck
